Music Hub Celebrates 10th Food Drive, Collects 400 lbs. Goods ...

What?s better than donating to a worthy cause? How about getting your guitar restrung for free while you?re at it?

That?s what Brookfield music store and lesson studio A Sound Education accomplished for the 10th consecutive year over the weekend, brining in 400 pounds of canned goods and non-perishables in their 10th annual ?Canned Food Drive and Guitar Restring Event.?

The event?s name says it all: in exchange for a food donation, customers received a free set of guitar strings and a free restringing. The store restrung over 50 guitars, including staying open on a Sunday.

?We?ve been meaning to get one of Luke?s guitars restrung and here was an opportunity to get it?done and do good,? said Diana Pieczynski in a press release, referring to her son.

?By the end of the weekend, my fingers were bleeding from all the strings I changed,? said store owner Mike Doerr in the release. ?But you know what? I look forward to doing it again for even more guitars next year. It?s absolutely worth it.?

A Sound Education has been located on Ogden Avenue in Brookfield just a couple blocks east of La Grange since 2001 and specializes in both musical equipment sales and music lessons.
